Dontae Tyler didn't take the traditional route into cybersecurity. A self-taught, Prince George's County native who left college to build instead of wait, he founded OQP Solutions in 2018 and grew it into a full-service practice covering governance, risk and compliance, data privacy, and security awareness.
Along the way he noticed that most breaches don't start with sophisticated hackers. They start with everyday habits. That idea became Cyber Hygiene, his practical guide to reducing personal and organizational risk, and the second edition, Taking Your Cyber Hygiene From Clean to Pristine, released in 2026. That same idea is the heart of his TEDx talk, "Digital Metabolism," which asks audiences to treat what they consume online the way they treat what they eat.
Dontae holds the CISM, CDPSE, and CEH certifications and has spoken at TEDxLargo, DC Startup & Tech Week, BSides Puerto Rico, and apidays Australia.
